The VERISOL® group showed a statistically significant increase in hair thickness (+1.93 µm), while the placebo group showed a slight decrease. In-vitro tests confirmed a 31% increase in hair follicle cell proliferation rate, demonstrating that VERISOL® directly stimulates hair metabolism.

This is a follow-up study to the original study from 2018. 131 postmenopausal women (mean age 64 years) with age-related BMD reduction participated in the first randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. After 12 months of daily intake of 5g collagen peptides, the BMD of the spine and femoral neck increased significantly compared to placebo, and the bone formation marker P1NP was also significantly increased. The 4-year follow-up confirmed the sustained benefits.

Double-blind, placebo-controlled study with 66 women aged 35 to 55 years. The participants received 2.5g VERISOL® made from bovine collagen or placebo daily for 8 weeks. Skin hydration, elasticity and the volume of eye wrinkles improved significantly after 4 weeks, with the effect being even more pronounced after 8 weeks. Wrinkles decreased by an average of 25% and skin elasticity improved by 9%. In-vitro experiments confirmed that VERISOL® stimulates the biosynthesis of type I collagen, elastin and proteoglycans. This is the first study to confirm the moisturizing effect of VERISOL® in addition to its known effects on elasticity and wrinkle reduction.

Synthesis of ligament and tendon matrix

Laboratory study showing that FORTIGEL® significantly stimulates the biosynthesis of ligament and tendon matrix molecules. RNA expression and the synthesis of collagen types I and III increased by 1.2 to 2.4 times compared to untreated controls. Proteoglycan synthesis (versican, decorin) also increased in both Achilles tendon and ligament fibroblasts.

In-vitro laboratory study on primary human fibroblasts from ligaments and Achilles tendons. The treatment with FORTIGEL® led to statistically significant increases: Type I and III collagen synthesis increased 1.2- to 2.4-fold, proteoglycan synthesis (versican, decorin) increased in both tissue types and elastin biosynthesis increased by approximately 50%. Importantly, the expression of matrix metalloproteinases was downregulated, suggesting that FORTIGEL® both builds new tissue and protects against degradation. The authors concluded that FORTIGEL® is a promising option for the treatment and prevention of tendinopathies and may reduce the risk of injury and rupture.

Randomized multicenter study with 126 participants aged 40 to 65 years with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis (Kellgren-Lawrence grade 2–3). After 12 weeks (not 3 months) of daily intake of 10g FORTIGEL® + 100mg fucoidan, participants showed a significant reduction in VAS pain scores and Lequesne's algo-function index.

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study with 147 subjects (97 completed the study and were statistically analyzed) at Penn State University. Participants received 10g FORTIGEL® or placebo daily for 24 weeks. Six parameters showed a statistically significant improvement over placebo, with more pronounced effects in the knee subgroup analysis.

Cartilage regeneration in knee osteoarthritis (MRI study)

Randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind pilot study, conducted at Tufts Medical Center/Harvard Medical School with 30 participants with knee osteoarthritis. Participants received 10g FORTIGEL® or placebo daily for 48 weeks. Using advanced dGEMRIC MRI imaging, the FORTIGEL® group showed a statistically significant increase in proteoglycan density in knee cartilage (medial tibial region +29 ms, lateral tibia +41 ms), while the placebo group showed a decrease. This was the first human study to demonstrate that oral collagen peptides directly regenerate cartilage structure.

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study with 139 athletes with functional knee problems (no diagnosed joint disease). Randomized, placebo-controlled study with 182 healthy adults who suffered from knee and hip pain during everyday activities. After 12 weeks of taking 5g of FORTIGEL® daily, participants showed a significant reduction in pain at rest, when walking, climbing stairs and kneeling. This confirms that the benefits of FORTIGEL® extend beyond athletes to everyday joint pain.

The results showed: significantly improved facial skin hydration from week 4, a reduction in the Lemperle wrinkle score by 1 grade by week 12, improved skin radiance and reduced roughness. 95% of subjects showed increased skin hydration compared to placebo.

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study with 33 healthy participants who received 50mg or 150mg CoQ10 (Q10Vital®) daily for 12 weeks. The results showed: 70–82% improvement in skin smoothness (blinded expert assessment), significant reduction in wrinkles and microrelief lines, and prevention of seasonal loss of elasticity (placebo lost ~25% elasticity, while CoQ10 groups maintained elasticity). Both doses were effective. Self-assessment also showed improved skin firmness.

Clinical study under dermatological control with 35 women aged 40 to 70 with a dull complexion. The participants received 150mg SkinAx²™ daily for 2 months. Using both objective (cutometer, sensory assessment) and subjective methods, 82% of women achieved a more even complexion and brighter skin – with significant improvements in color, contrast and imperfections. Two out of three women said they looked better after taking the supplement.

A 6-month prospective study of 45 patients with knee osteoarthritis who received Theracurmin® (180mg curcumin/day). The results showed that 76% of patients experienced clinically significant improvements in pain and joint function. VAS pain scores, JKOM scores and JOA scores all improved significantly from baseline (p <0.05). Clinical benefits occurred within 1–2 months and persisted for 6 months. Theracurmin®® has a 27-fold higher bioavailability than conventional curcumin powder. No significant side effects were observed.

Double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study with 51 women aged 20 to 63 years with dry to very dry skin. The participants received 350mg of wheat extract oil (rich in ceramides and digalactosyl diglycerides) daily for 3 months. Skin hydration on arms and legs was significantly increased compared to placebo. 95% of women in the treatment group showed increased skin hydration. Skin dryness, roughness and redness were reduced. The product was well tolerated and there were no side effects.

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 65 healthy women who received 6mg or 12mg of AstaReal astaxanthin daily for 16 weeks. Results showed that wrinkle parameters and skin hydration worsened significantly in the placebo group but were maintained in the astaxanthin groups, while astaxanthin suppressed UVB-induced IL-1α and MMP-1 secretion and protected the skin from seasonal deterioration.

The results showed a significant improvement in skin elasticity and fine lines/wrinkles as assessed by dermatology, an increase in skin hydration levels as measured by instruments and improvements in skin texture/smoothness parameters compared to baseline/placebo, suggesting an overall improvement in skin condition with astaxanthin supplementation.

Open-label intervention study in 31 middle-aged men and women (>40 years) who took 4 mg of astaxanthin daily for 4 weeks. Results showed a reduction in plasma malondialdehyde (marker of oxidative stress) by 11.2% on day 15 and by 21.7% on day 29 compared to baseline, along with a significant reduction in corneocyte desquamation and microbial presence in residual skin surface components, suggesting improved skin surface morphology and reduced oxidative stress with continued astaxanthin intake.

Supplementation resulted in a significant increase in serum lycopene compared to placebo, a favorable directional change with increased bone formation marker P1NP and a reduction in bone resorption marker β-CTx, and a higher proportion of women achieving a significant reduction in β-CTx (46% versus 33% on placebo), in addition to a significant reduction in hs-CRP and no supplement-related adverse events.
